Itinerary of Real Cosmonaut Training (10 days)

First day:
After arriving in Moscow, you will be met inside the airport by our guide (English speaking or any other language you prefer). We will help you with accommodation in your hotel. Then we shall take you on a Moscow city tour of Red Square, Alexander Gardens, Lenin’s Tomb, GUM Shopping Mall, St. Basil’s Cathedral, Poklonnaya Hill, the New Convent, “the White House” and the Arbat Area.

Second day:
After having breakfast in hotel, we shall drive you to Star City (40 minutes by car from Moscow), where you will have a tour round the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center (GCTC). After the tour, you will have an introductory lecture about the history of manned space flight. This afternoon after having lunch, you will have your medical check. In the evening, we will take you back to your hotel.

Third day:
You will arrive in Star City after breakfast. You will spend all day dealing with things medical. This morning you will have a lecture about the psychological aspects of the manned space flights. In the afternoon after having lunch, you will have a complex medical examination. This will show your physical readiness to go into space. The medic specialists from GCTC, using their unique equipment, such as a revolving chair, an optokinetic drum and slanting tables will show how your body would be able to survive in extraordinary conditions. When finished, we will transport you back to hotel.

Forth day:
Following your arrival in Star City you will spend a half-day in the Planetarium, attending a lecture and training. The Instructors will teach you the main principles of space navigation.

After lunch, you have a lecture and training in the space station simulator "Soyuz-TM." You will learn about construction and assemblage of the International Space Station (ISS). During the training in the “Soyuz-TM” simulator, you will be encased in your special suit (Sokol pressure suit) in the pilot’s seat of the Soyuz spaceship. Your task will be to dock your space craft with the International Space Station (ISS.) this is not computer-aided, but using only hand and joystick control. Later, you will be back to your hotel.

Fifth day:
After having breakfast in the hotel, we will take you to Star City. This morning you will have Centrifuge training. It is the only real way to fully prove your readiness to go to outer space. After the Instructors from the GCTC give you full instructions relative to your Centrifuge training, you will be rotated in the TsF-18 Centrifuge under three different conditions:

  1. Familiarization rotation - duration up to 3 minutes, max G-4 on torso;
  2. Flight to orbit - duration up to 9 minutes, max G-4 on torso;
  3. Descent of "Soyuz" space vehicle from Earth's artificial satellite orbit - duration up to 4 minutes, max G-4 on torso.

Then you will have lunch.

During the afternoon, you will try real Space food, after a lecture you will cook and taste it.

In the evening, the instructors from the GCTC will give you full instructions relative to your Zero-Gravity flight. Finally, you’ll be back to your hotel.

Sixth day:
After an early breakfast in the hotel (7:00 a.m.), we will take you to the Chkalovsky airbase where the aircraft lab. IL-76MDK is housed. You will meet your personal instructors who will provide your safety during the whole Zero-G flight. You will receive detailed instructions on the secure rules once inside the aircraft, and you will put on special suits.

Once safety-checked and suited up, you are ready for your Zero Gravity flight on-board the Ilyushin 76 MDK. During the Zero-Gravity flight, you’ll experience total weightlessness 10 individual times.

After lunch, you will practice working in outer space. The Instructors will give you complete information about the ISS. Then, using the "Vykhod-2" simulator, you will have cosmonaut’s work training as though in outer space. Also, you will practice basic skills of moving and maneuvering in outer space. On completion, you will be back to your hotel.

Seventh day:
Now for something different… this day you will spend in the forest. After arriving in Star City with a lecture about the basic skills of surviving an emergency landing, you will be taken to the forest not far from Star City. Then, for starters, we suggest you leave the Soyuz spacecraft descent module capsule and see that you are in the middle of the forest with only the descent-capsule equipment. The professional instructors from GCTC will teach you how to establish contact with the rescue team using the emergency radio station (in actual situations, it could take up to 48 hours to find the landing site). The second step is to build a warm fire and create a safe camp using the equipment from the Soyuz capsule. Also, you have to know how to find food in the forest in case the emergency food reserve runs out. Later in the evening, you will be back to your hotel.

Eighth day:
After having breakfast, we will go to Korolev City. There, you will have a tour round the Mission Control Center (MCC). You will know many new facts about the history, operation and structure of MCC. You will see the of Mir Space Station Flight Control Room as well as the Flight Control Room of the International Space Station. You will be possibly a witness of session of communication with crew of ISS.

This afternoon after having lunch, you will visit the Monino Air Force Museum (about 40 minutes by car). It is first museum in Russia where genuine Air Force equipment is displayed. In this museum, one can see different aircraft, helicopters, aircraft engines, armament, and rescue facilities, relating to the whole history of national aviation from 1909 to date. In the halls there are exhibits of models of airсraft, unique photos and rare documents, which exceed 37,000. At the finish, you will be back to your hotel.

Ninth day:
After having breakfast in your hotel, you will be taken to Star City. Here, you will spend time in the unique Hydro-Space laboratory. To start with, you will be suited in a special Orlan DMA Space Suit, which is used by cosmonauts to work in outer space, outside the space craft and space station. Then you will be placed deep into the Hydrolab basin, where large models of the ISS modules are. Your mission will be to leave the so called "MockUps" of the ISS and, using security-hook attached to a steel cable and install a space antenna.

After lunch you will practice on the TDK-7ST N1 and N2 integrated simulators, which are used for training cosmonauts the skills of "Soyuz-TM" control. You will practice the control of "Soyuz-TM" in the course of the space mission program implementation in standard, non-standard and emergency situations at all stages of the flight. Once completed, you will be back to your hotel.

Tenth day:
After breakfast we will take you to The Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics. The original idea of creating the museum belongs to S. Korolev, who designed the rockets and spacecraft. Now, the museum is undergoing major reconstruction. A new museum complex in Moscow will reflect the real history of space achievements, based on scientific facts with the help of modern museum technologies.

After your program is completed you will receive a Personal Certificate.

If you would like, we may organize dinner with specialists from GCTC in Star City. You will be back to your hotel.
